Champoluc – St. Jacques – Verra Plan

This excursion is fit only for skilled cyclists, for some reasons. First of all, because of the elevation: from St. Jacques’ 1689 meters to 2038 – 2069 of Lower Verra Plan, or 2388 of Upper Verra Plan. It’s an important run, which initial part represents the worse track of the whole itinerary. The run is on the right bank of Evançon, while the path is on the left bank.

Another bad news regards road’s condition: there are sandy zones, and others covered by rocks and stones, which are a gret obstacule while you’re under effort, trying to climb a slope. This bad part isn’t really hard, however, because after half of the run the muletrack becomes a normal carriageable, almost flat. The Plan is near and the zone you are crossing is really beautiful. In details, after Revay’s  hairpin bends you enter in Beau Bois resort (Beautiful Wood), which really worths its name: a long theory of trees and a good road.

For the ay back, I recommend to use a helmet, because it’s easy to find a big stone which can make you fall, and if you are going too fast it’ll be dangerous.
