Resy

Located at about 2000 meters over sea level, the little and typical is one of the highest, in Europe, resided all year long. Reachable from St. Jacques in less than one hour (about 35 minutes, usually), but also from Lower Verra Plan and from Crest via Soussun, Resy has a special prerogative: because of its position, it overlooks the whole valley floor, and its lights are perfectly visible from Champoluc, just on the right of the glacier. It’s good to say, besides, that the glacier itself is not visible from Resy, because the village lays on the “glacier’s shoulder”.

This interesting village offers two refuges, the “Refugio” and the “Guide’s Refuge Frachey”,. Located one upper than the other along the slope. Both offers beds, and they’ve just been restored. The Ferraro (2090 mts.) has got a wide terrace and it’s a bit bigger, while the other, it’s located in a typical rascard, a little lower. Please note the funny “signs competition” which welcomes the tourist arriving to Resy. More in details, the Ferraro offers 40 places and it’s managed by Franca Bo, tel. (+39) 0125 307668; there’s also an internet site, reviewed by us: www.rifugioferraro.com; email mail@rifugioferraro.com . the refuge’s number is (+39) 0125 307189. Besides, the Frachey has got 38 places, its telephone number is (+39) 0125 307468, the email address is kauft@libero.it . It’s managed by Gianandrea Frachey of Champoluc, tel. (+39) 0125 307189. Resy is also an important starting point for interesting excursions, as the Palon itself or the Lakes: surrounded by meadows and woods, the village is liked by a dirt road which takes to Crest or Bettaforca, the pass for Gressoney’s Valley. Resy is easy and fast to be reached for fitted people. Anyway, it can be an interesting challenge for children or beginners: the run is completely on an ascent, in the woods, and presents fascinating aspects. It’s the best choice for the first meeting with the mountain, in full security.
