Verra Plan (Lower and Upper)

Reachable from St Jacques via Fiery in less than an hour, the Verra Plan is a long, grassy plan, rich of water, which lyes just at glacier’s foothills. It’s devided in Lower Verra Plan, and Upper Verra Plan, located a little bit upper, on the right. The plan’s orography is peculiar: first of all, it’s crossed by Verraz Torrent, which comes from the Lago Blu (2220 meters) and from some high altitude sources, located over the Lower Verra Plan. The plan is lying in a little, but uniform, slope: it starts from 2069 meters to 2388, where there’s the beginning of path number 7, which takes to Mezzalama Refuge (3009 meters).

At the end of the principal plan, the Lower, we’ve some important starting points. At extreme left, we have the path 7A, to Lago Blu, exactely in front of the bridge which crosses the turbolent torrent, the dirt road keep on going on to Upper Verra Plan. On valley’s maps you’ll find it signed as path number 8. The Verra Plan, in general, represents a easy and satisfying aim: it’s the best choice for a relax day. Two important notes: the Upper Plan, just before the beginning of the path for Mezzalama, is perfect for those who want to meet some alpine fauna’s specimen, especially marmots. Besides, to those who crossed the plan by night: have you ever noticed the “invitation” represented by Lambronecca Refuge’s light, just in front of you?
