Lake Forcaz

Located at 2323 meters high, this beautiful lake is located at about half of the deep Bettaforca valley, close to the skilifts. In the same zone there’s another basin, less important, close to the carriageable coming from Crest and, more precisely, from Paradisia in Taconet resort. This secondary basin it’s located at 2360 meters. The lake is also reachable from Resy, following the carriageable number 9 which crosses the valley towards the Bettaforca. Once you’re arrived at half of the valley, when you’re about to climb the grassy ridge towards the terminal, you’ll just have to get down on the right to arrive at lake’s shores.

Lake Forcaz is just forward, on the right, under the enormous detrital slope of Mount Bettaforcaz, 2969 meters high. It’s almost invisible from the road, but you’ll see it easily if you just go a little forward towards the cableway terminal. I’ve been ther at 11.50 AM of Friday 23^rd July 2004, coming from Champoluc via Crest, Soussun and Paradisia. The lake has got a kind of circular shape, it presents a little rocky promontory in the central part, easily reachable from the big meadow behind that, which is a “marmots’ kingdom”. Lake’s shores are quiet, good to have lunch or for relaxing; on July they’re still covered of beautiful snowfields. You just have to avoid the oriental shore, because it’s too rocky. Briefly, this little lake reminds me a lot Blue Lake, because it’s has got the same colour. Nevertheless is also quiet and silent, less known and frequented, a very good thing.
