Ulrich Lateltin Bivouac

Located at 3132 meters of altitude on the east part of the ridge south of Testa Grigia’s top, this 20 places bivouac is a good shelter from bad weather, or is a good support point to those who want to sleep during Testa Grigia’s ascent, or simply passing a night in high mountain, always a beautiful experience. It’s a bivouac, not a refuge, so it isn’t surveilled. The Lateltin, made of grey plate, seems pretty short but in reality is really wide and you remain astonished to see the beds on the left, the little gas kitchen on the right and the space for propane bottle. The bivouac is located on a rocky basement and has got a beautiful panorama; few meters forward there is a cross, too thin to be seen from under.

How do we reach the Lateltin?

There are two choices: you can start from Crest, reach Cuneaz, and Pinter Pass. In this case, the path is 11. Or, if you want, you can reach with the cableway Ostafa, from there you take path 12 wich will take you soon to Pinter. From there the run become just one, the way to Testa Grigia. After the dangerous funnel you’re on the ridge; the Lateltin is behind you: you will see an easy path wich will take you on eastern peak. The bivouac is just forward; however, to know all the ascent to Testa Grigia, is good to see its section in this website.
